Sedation Dentistry
Some dental procedures can seem quite scary to the anxious patient and even relaxed patients can start to feel restless when in the dentist chair too long! At Smart Mouth Family Dental, we want all our patients to be as comfortable as possible, that’s why we offer sedation therapy in the form of nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Both treatments are safe and easy, and as our clinic is licensed by the American Dental Association, you can rest assured that you are in safe hands with our trained professionals.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is commonly known as laughing gas and is a popular sedentary option in our Durant, OK clinic. This form of sedation is inhaled using a nose mask and administered by our dental team. There are many benefits to nitrous oxide that makes it a popular option for our patients, including the ability to resume normal daily activities straight after treatment, as nitrous oxide has no side effects. Once our patient has chosen this treatment they just have to sit back, relax and let our expert team help them achieve a perfect smile!
Oral Sedation
Another popular sedation method for those who may have more extensive work to be performed is oral sedation, which involves taking a prescription pill an hour before your treatment starts. This will have you fully relaxed once it is time to begin and will make sure your procedure is quick and pain free. We recommend having someone drive you to and from the office as oral sedation can leave you drowsy for some time post treatment.
Trusted for Safety
We know there can be some anxiety around using sedation methods but we want to ensure you that these methods are chosen because of their safety, accessibility and effectiveness. Smart Mouth Family Dental wants to ensure we give you the best possible care there is, that is why we will do a thorough assessment to determine the correct sedation method for you.
Like any medication there can be side effects for certain groups, so we ask you to tell your dentist about any medications you take, allergies or illnesses you have or recent surgical procedures. It is important for the Smart Mouth Family Dental team to have a good overview of your medical history to keep you safe and healthy when receiving treatment from us. If you would like more information on our sedation methods, call us today and we would be happy to talk to you!
